  • Energy is generated from diesel or oil
  • 517 million liters of diesel per year cause 1.4 million tons of CO2 in the Maldives
  • There are extremely high costs for electrical energy: 0,25 – 0,50€/kWh
  • Land use is very costly
  • High demand for electrical energy for hotels
  • Few large roof areas for rooftop installations
